Your Fall Selling Window Is Still Open

Summer may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the opportunity to sell your home is gone for the year.

If you’ve been thinking about selling but assumed you needed to wait until spring, there’s an important reason to reconsider:

About one in three existing-home sales happen during the final four months of the year.

Graphic saying how 1 in 3 home sales happen in the final four months of the year. Fall is still a good time to sell.

Fall Buyers Are Still Out There

It’s easy to think of spring as the selling season, but the market doesn’t simply shut down once sum

mer ends.

According to data from the National Association of REALTORS®, roughly a third of existing-home sales take place between September and December. That means there are still plenty of buyers actively making plans and looking for homes before the end of the year.

And based on current 2026 forecasts, approximately 1.4 million existing homes could sell between now and December.

That works out to roughly 11,800 homes selling each day this fall.

So if you’ve been waiting because you thought there wouldn’t be enough buyers, the numbers tell a different story.

What Does That Mean If You’re Thinking About Selling?

It doesn’t mean every home will sell quickly simply because it’s fall. Buyers are still paying attention to price, condition, location and presentation.

That’s why your strategy matters.

A home that is priced appropriately for the current DFW market and presented in a way that catches buyers’ attention can stand out from the competition.

From determining the right price to preparing your home, marketing it effectively and navigating offers, having a plan can make a big difference.

The Bottom Line

You don't necessarily have to wait until spring to sell your home.

Your window may still be open.

If selling your home has been on your mind, I’d love to help you take a look at what the current DFW real estate market could mean for your specific property.
